Training Resource Available to Public and Nonprofit Organizations
The Volunteer Centers of Iowa (VCI), in partnership with the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service, will be hosting a web-based training resource for Iowa nonprofit, public, faith-based, and service organizations. The six session VCI Volunteer Management Training Series, running January 27th through April 6, 2016, will provide best practices training presented by leading experts from across the state.
“This is a great opportunity for organizations who utilize volunteers to hone their volunteer management skills.”, stated Nichole Sorgenfrey, Program Manager. “All the sessions are web-based, saving nonprofits travel costs typically associated with training and conferences.”
Effectively managed volunteers deliver mission driven results, and well-trained staff are key for an effective volunteer program. This live, interactive webinar series will provide a consistent curriculum throughout the state on the following topics- Understanding Volunteering: Exploring the Heart of the Volunteer Sector; Planning for Volunteer Engagement: Building a Solid Foundation; Recruiting and Placing Volunteers: Matching the Skills with Service Needs; Orientation and Training: Achieving Service Excellence; Supervision: Maximizing the Volunteer Experience; and Evaluation: Improving Results with Data and Feedback.
Organizations who already utilize volunteers and those interested in utilizing volunteers are encouraged to attend. Participants will be connected with other volunteer coordinators from throughout the state, while being provided an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of this advanced curriculum.
A flyer is available for download with registration and session information.
